Coach John Sposato

Olympic Lifting

John Sposato specializes in Olympic Weightlifting with over 25 years experience training and competing in Olympic style lifting. In 1998 he was a member of the USA Masters Pan American Team where he captured a silver medal in the Masters Pan American Championship. In 1996 he won the USA National Masters Title and earned a seat on the USA Masters World Team finishing 6th in the World Masters Championship in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. Additionally, he holds other major titles including the 1993 Florida State Championship, 1991 Florida Briar 220lb Open and Masters Most Valuable Lifter, 1988 USWF Ohio Championship and 1979 Jr. and Sr. Lake Erie District Championship. Mr. Sposato continues to train in Olympic weightlifting and anticipates future competition in the Masters division.

Mr. Sposato is also engaged in motivational speaking and Olympic-lifting demonstrations. He draws from training and competition experiences to deliver a tailored message while promoting the sport of Olympic weightlifting. The owner of Sposato’s Will of Steel Gym, Mr. Sposato has since 1996 to the present spoken at various Rotary Clubs, schools and churches through the community. Mr. Sposato holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and is currently serving as the Emergency Coordinating Officer and Liaison for Homeland Security for a major Northeast Florida utility.
